Texas Riverfest continues with another afternoon set (from 3pm) featuring the classy country, blues and jazz guitar stylings of (former Freddy Fender) guitar whizz supreme JUNIOR NASH!
Then on the main stage from 5.30pm it’s Austin’s sultry “Queen of Soul” TAMECA JONES. For the uninitiated she’s a wow! With tasteful and vibrant interpretations of a diverse list of artists that includes Tina Turner, Nirvana, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix and more, this is velvety soul, trippy, sexy and just plain irresistible.
Then from 7.30pm we get a little boot scootingly honky tonk on yer ass with one of Austin’s best live performers, the great CARSON McHONE. McHone crafts classy, boots and road dirt, gosh darn, heart and soul country-fried Americana. Music that kicks hard an’ twangs yer strings. Ray Wylie Hubbard (who knows a thing or two about a thing or two) says, “She writes songs like her life depends on it.” Her vocals are featured on Shinyribs ‘Okra Candy’ album. She dueted on Mike & The Moonpies ‘Mockingbird’. And she’s shared the stage with the likes of Ryan Bingham, Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary Clark Jr. With a voice of grit and grace that swoops and soars she is not to be missed.
Following this, from 9.15pm we are proud to welcome back to the Phoenix for the first time with her full band… the one and only PATRICIA VONNE (plus very special guest RICK DEL CASTILLO). Patricia Vonne is one pure, prime, real and true sexy purveyor of fiery Flamenco rock and roll! Gypsy guitar meets all-American rock chick chic. (Sister of Robert Rodriguez, you might also know her as Old Town girl Dallas from SIN CITY). If you’ve seen her before you know you ain’t gonna wanna miss this. And, if you ain’t never seen her before, trust us… you ain’t gonna wanna miss this!
And then… as if that isn’t enough… Yep, topping off the evening we got Houston’s very own rumblestastic slam blam indie-fired dance-rockers THE TONTONS. Pulsing, throbbing, epic modern rock. Thrilling. Alluring. Gigantic. Frenzied. Awesome!
