Swampy tonk, y’all! Tate Mayeux hails from Louisiana. Brian Broussard was raised in Port Arthur. Together they front a killer, Austin-based band that pulls together Country, Blues, Jazz and Zydeco influences to create a wild and glorious mash of dirty, stompin’ swamp rock ‘n’ roll (that also, while yer at it, tips a hat to the cosmic cowboys of Austin’s psychedelic past). Their 2012 album, ‘While The Gittin’s Good’, was a classy and accomplished debut. A new album, ‘High Times And Good Rhymes’ (due next week), is even better. Yeah, it’s a masterly work chock full of gritty craft, rasping rawk and rifftastic melodic gnarl. This is their first headline Phoenix show. Don’t miss! Plus, opening we got the fine traditionally versed country song stylings of Hill Country gem Kathryn Legendre.
