Swampy tonk, y’all! Tate Mayeux hails from Louisiana. Brian Broussard was raised in Port Arthur. Together they front a killer, Austin-based band that pulls together Country, Blues, Jazz and Zydeco influences to create a wild and glorious mash of dirty, stompin’ swamp rock ‘n’ roll (that also, while yer at it, tips a hat to the cosmic cowboys of Austin’s psychedelic past). Their 2012 album, ‘While The Gittin’s Good’, was a classy and accomplished debut. A new album, ‘High Times And Good Rhymes’ (due next week), is even better. Yeah, it’s a masterly work chock full of gritty craft, rasping rawk and rifftastic melodic gnarl. Plus, opening we got the fine traditionally versed country song stylings of Hill Country gem Kathryn Legendre.
